MEMOIR FOR DIOR HOMME

Memoir by Willy Vanderperre for Dior Homme

Dominated by linen tones, from ecru to off-white, the Dior Homme Spring-Summer 2012 Collection inspired a film shot under a blazing sun by Willy Vanderperre in the sultry heat of a townhouse with baroque details recalling the fashion show decor -in the tennus club de Paris last june- The spirit runs wild unfettered yearning for freshness and the mistery of the night. Black contrasts with total white. We move from reality to dreams, and back again. Suddenly the model appear to be alone. Maybe it’s two men with twin-like traits. Disturbing flashes appear segue overlap. Finally, it’s an unconcealed sense of elegance alone that’s following this young man, as seen by the belgian photographer and director.

This 160 second film stimulate de imagination. We are seduced by the solar sensuality of the opening images. The soundtrack starts to lead away into another story. The sun is eclipsed and we slide into a moonless midnight. In their cuts and their finishes, the clothes appear to be the same. Day and night overlap, reality and the dreamworld. Only light and colors change as this work unfolds a strong aesthetic. Touching on the intimate, revealing the familiar and hidden faces of a man.
