From Pamplona to Beijing, on his way through Barcelona. Winner of the 2014 Hempel Award. He has just submitted his third collection with the collaboration of the Hempel group.

He studied fashion at FdModa in Barcelona (currently LCI), where he admits to having been nurtured with a lot of skating and finishes. He then moved on to the London College of Fashion, where he developed his conceptual facet. With his first collection for his final project he won the 2014 Hempel Award, recognition as the very best talent in ModaFad. He is now 24 years old and after designing for various brands for Hempel in Beijing, the group has sponsored his third collection.

Contests: “I am one of those people who thinks that taking time to hold contests is always a long-term investment.”

Hempel: “This award is what has driven me professionally the most. Those who are chosen have the chance to inaugurate the Mercedes Benz Beijing Fashion Week. From there on, several projects came up for me. One of them was to make my own collection for the store, Arrtco, specialized in young designers. I designed a total of 50 pieces, all with my signature.”

Shanghai: “After 4 months working at Hempel, I was promoted to their international team in Shanghai, where I am the only Spaniard. Here, the atmosphere is very international. It’s a very enriching experience. Shanghai is a city full of opportunities and in constant development.”

Now: “I work for Hempel creating collections focused on the European and American markets. I develop the entire process of search, design and supervision of the prototype and production department. Finally, these collections are presented to companies such as CK or H&M among others.”

Jon Mikeo: “Hempel and other companies have sponsored my third collection, the second under my brand. We are currently deciding how to approach the future of my brand. The shoes I did with the company Sweet Villians.”

Evolution: “The first collection was very dramatic. In the ones that followed, I continued to be committed to the same elements, with the detail of patronage and forms, but it is also true that I have moved closer to the market, without losing my identity. The latest collection is more sober. Cleaner garments that play more with volume. I’m working on forms that are very vertical and mixing materials like silk velvets, PVC, suede and wool.”
